Binding energy

Beta particle


A beta particle, also called beta ray or beta radiation (symbol β), is a high-energy, high-speed electron or positron emitted by the radioactive decay of an atomic nucleus during the process of beta decay. There are two forms of beta decay, β− decay and β+ decay, which produce electrons and positrons respectively.

Azeotrope


An azeotrope or a constant boiling point mixture is a mixture of two or more liquids whose proportions cannot be altered or changed by simple distillation. This happens because when an azeotrope is boiled, the vapour has the same proportions of constituents as the unboiled mixture.

Atomic mass

The atomic mass is the mass of an atom. Although the SI unit of mass is kilogram, the atomic mass is often expressed in the non-SI unit dalton where 1 dalton is defined as ​¹⁄₁₂ of the mass of a single carbon-12 atom, at rest.

Atomic number
